Group Leader
Emmanuelle Charpentier received her PhD in Microbiology from the University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris VI) for her research performed at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, France. This was followed by post-doctoral stays at the Rockefeller University, NYU Medical Center and Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine in New York City and at St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Emmanuelle moved then to the University of Vienna to establish her own research group. Her main research interests are the molecular aspects of stress response and virulence in pathogenic bacteria. She also teaches bacterial pathogenesis at the University of Vienna where she habilitated in the field of microbiology.

Emmanuelle starts a new lab at the MIMS (The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) within the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine).
