11.5.20, ÖAW Podcast with Stefan Ameres and Julius Brennecke
RNA researchers Stefan Ameres and Julius Brennecke, both at IMBA and participating in the Vienna COVID-19 Diagnostics Initiative (VCDI), explain for the general German-speaking public the different SARS-CoV-2 testing possibilities in a podcast of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).
For controlling and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that SARS-CoV-2 testing is absolutely essential. But people might wonder: What kind of tests are used? How do they work, and what do researchers actually track? Stefan Ameres and Julius Brennecke are group leaders at IMBA and part of the Vienna COVID-19 Diagnostics Initiative (VCDI), a collaborative effort involving 21 scientific institutions across Vienna. They discuss in the recent episode of the podcast MAKRO MIKRO of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) the current testing strategies and how they might develop in the future.
