As most of you know, MFPL has already had two successful PhD an Postdoc Retreats in the last two years, and we are now preparing for this year’s retreat! The organizing committee has already held some meetings. However, we need more people willing to help us! (read more)

MFPL Happy Hours are our social get-togethers here on campus. Every 6 – 8 weeks a different group organizes this event on a Thursday evening which invites all people at MFPL to socialize, enjoy food, drinks, dance, and simply have fun. Lately it has become popular to give the MFPL Happy Hour a theme. So we’ve had themes like “Vikings”, “Show your Nation”, “Pirates”, “Chop Stick Challenge”, “Bad Teiste”. It’s all in the initiative of the organizing group(s). (read more)

The Vienna Biocenter Amateur Dramatic Club (VBC ADC) is an extra-curricular society based on the campus. The members are drawn from all four academic institutes at the VBC (GMI, IMBA, IMP and MFPL) and include students, technicians, group leaders and Postdocs. No previous experience is necessary, and the emphasis is very much on having fun. (read more)

The MolBio Orchestra was formed in 2006 by a group of molecular biology and biology students. Starting with only seven musicians, this ambitious project has developed into an orchestra of currently twenty five members, comprising students, Postdocs and group leaders from and around the VBC. We are looking for players to join our team, especially girls! The rules are that at any given time there have to be at least two female players on the field. So far, 2 1/2 female players have expressed their interest, which is by no means enough considering that one game will take 30-40 minutes on a big field (11 vs. 11!). (read more)

One boat, 20 people with paddles, and one drummer who gives the commands and rhythm. The Dragon Boat Cup is one of Austria’s biggest team building incentives and MFPL has been participating since 2008. It’s true team work which brings the result and it’s a fantastic feeling being part of the team. The Dragon Boat Cup usually takes place end of June and we start training 4 months before.
