How To Apply
The VIPS programme is open to all highly motivated and talented young scientists from all over the world, who aim to follow an academic career. Applicants need to hold a PhD in Molecular Life Sciences or other related disciplines (Physics, Mathematics) or to be PhD students who expect to finish their studies within four to six months after the application deadline.
Admission to the VIPS programme is very competitive, and carried out solely through a centralized selection procedure. Please note that applications can only be accepted via the online application system within the announced application period. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Complete applications consist of a completely filled online application form and references from at least two referees. Referees have to submit their comments via our online application system too. Reference letters sent by post, email or fax won’t be considered. Please ensure that references reach us on time.
To apply via our online application system you need to carry out three main steps:
STEP 1:
The first step requires you to complete some initial tasks, then you will receive a confirmation email giving you access to upload more personal information.
Please fill in your personal data and your email address. Check if your email address is correct, as you will get a confirmation email after submitting the first information.
You have to indicate at least two referees. Please fill in their information and contact details. Please note that referees must have an institutional email address, Yahoo, gmail etc. are not acceptable. All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
Please save your information.
If your email address is correct you will receive a confirmation email with link to your application within the next few minutes after saving your information. If you don’t get a confirmation email, please first check your spam/junk folder. If the confirmation email hasn’t accidentally been marked as spam, please contact the VIPS office (vips@mfpl.ac.at)
STEP 2:
Please click on the link in the confirmation email to carry on with your application. You will then be forwarded to your personal application panel. You have to complete your application and invite your referees.
Some information has to be filled in before saving; other information can be added later. Be sure to complete your information as only complete applications will be accepted. You can edit your application until the application deadline.
STEP 3:
Note that we will not contact your referees – it is your responsibility to ensure that references reach us on time. Therefore please use the “Your Referees” tab in your application panel to invite them to submit their comments. The referees will get an email to the address you’ve indicated at the beginning, with the link to the corresponding online form. You can also check the status of your reference letters there.
